Heads up (May 2024)
Wearable art success Congratulations to the Flaxmere College students who entered the Showquest Toi Competition in May. Street namings Opening ceremonies for the new Flaxmere streets are being planned by Hastings District Council. Six streets in the two development areas behind Flaxmere Village have been named for past residents who have made huge contributions to Flaxmere: Kibblewhite Road for Ken Kibblewhite; Poulain Way for Jacob Poulain; Tuivaiti Street for Tuivaiti Fetaiaimauso Tuivaiti; Ratima Avenue for Des Ratima; Pam O’Keefe Avenue for Pam O’Keefe; Te Ara Moeke for Haami Moeke; Te Ara Huata for Tama Huata. The private ceremonies are expected to be held in July and August, with invites to family members due to be sent out shortly.
