Heads up in April

Community centre car park

An upgrade of the Flaxmere Community Centre car park is due to be completed by the end of the May, weather permitting. The upgrade, required to align the car park level with that of the new neighbouring housing development, will result in an extra five car parks.

Volleyball

The two new permanent grass volleyball courts are being installed this month, one in Flaxmere Park near the basketball court and the other in Chatham Park, as agreed with community input. The trial court at the Wilson Rd end of Flaxmere Park will be removed. The court lines will be line-marked regularly and the nets will be up permanently.

Get up to tech

Free Cuppa Tech sessions every second Thursday (10am to noon) at Flaxmere Library for people needing help with basic tech skills: emailing, internet browsing, using apps, online banking and shopping, scam safety, social media, taking and accessing photos, downloading library books . . . all served up with a cuppa.

Keeping fit for free

You can keep fit most weekday evenings for free at Flaxmere Community Centre. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays: PolyActive (6pm). For kaumatua: Tuesdays and Thursdays: strength and balance class (11am); Wednesdays: line dancing (10am); Fridays: sit fit (9am).
